You missed Sukhumvit Soi 23 also known as Soi Cowboy. That is the ongoing favorite of western expats. There are other places such as Koh Samui, Phuket Island as well.

Young Dr3amer – I have sympathy to you – as u might have also believed the fake story of gals being forced into thai sex industry, which is commonly told to find a suitable farang to marry – loving GF is one thing and knowing facts is another… Isolated cases are everywhere – in general the gals in bangkok sex trade make more money than their father/brother make in whole year working in their rice farms in south thai. And if this is accepted in thai psyche as a trade (even if as a bad one)…. then its hard for other to take is same way where we dont accept it culturrally….. open ur eyes bro

I agree with the first post. Regardless if a large portion of the proposed young nightclub girls are solely in it for the money and quick fix. I cannot stress the fact that a larger portion of women are manipulated and forced into sex slavery and are unable to escape their current situations. Many in fact are facing a mental illness where they are unable to realistically view life outside of sex related-work and this problem becomes extremely difficult to reverse. It is unacceptable that we express indulgence and promoting material such as this review of Bangkok's nightlife. I demand that Thailand's government implements and re-enforces laws that can resolve the severe and ever-going problem, short-term change must be the greatest concern and issue. They need to seize alternative solutions to deprive Thailand's sex industry and increase other mediums of hospitality and tourism to financially sustain their economy. I love my thai girlfriend and to see her country continue to self-inflict pain and suffering upon its own people is unacceptable and in time, changeable.

The women that work in the tourist areas like Patpong are not sex slaves, more armchair “facts” from someone that doesn’t even live in Bangkok. This may be big news to you but Bangkok isn’t Kenya, if a woman wants to get a job in Bangkok outside of the sex industry then she can. Now she wont make hundreds a day and be able to buy gold, TV’s, go shopping at Emporium or go back to Issan with money and gifts for every member of their family – but she will have a place to live, food, a bit of spare cash (sounds horrible right?). The cold hard fact is the women in tourist areas that work in the sex industry do purely for greed. The “every woman in Nana Plaza” is a sex slave being held against their will is a myth.

Actually, most are not. In fact, they are in for the money. I've talked to a few of them as they are always out on my street (live downtown). I know guys who have lived here for decades and know some as friends. I see them talking to their "boyfriends" at the internet cafe. This is a business to them and they are in it for the money. They make good money. They give the sob story about leaving but they don't want too. Easy work. Yes, there are sex rings here just like their are sex rings in Amsterdam. However, it's not as widespread as these groups like to have you believe. The majority of these girls are not sex slaves.
