No hibernating during Montana winters! There is so much stuff, it’s tough to decide. Kiteboarding is super intense, next time I give it a whirl, I may borrow a high school football helmet when I do. Gelande is madness- you won’t believe the distances these guys jump, and the atmosphere is killer- bloody marys on the deck… nuff said. I’m looking forward to the skijoring in Redlodge, I have yet to make it and always wanted to.
@Julie- Summer? Done and done… this is only the tip of the iceberg!

Jon- I really love how you found these events that seem totally obscure to us East Coasters…and then come up with alternates for every single one! I’ve been saying I’m going to get back out to Montana for at least a year now. In 2010, I DEFINITELY have to get there. Probably won’t be winter, though… I don’t like`cold much. Maybe you can do a round up of summer festivals, too.

damn, the Snowbowl Cup Gelande Championship looks like one more reason Missoula has to be among the best places to live.

That does sound incredible. I’d probably get nervous even just watching the pros, though!

Yes, def dangerous but equally awesome. I saw a guy flying a kite in the meadow up in Squaw Valley last weekend and it was cool even seeing that guy try to make some turns. Would love to see the pros get after it at this event…

Snowkiting?!? Looks absolutely awesome. But dangerous? I wouldn’t want to just strap on a kite and jump off a mountain…better to watch a few pros first.
