Luckily the Internet age has made that a lot easier. Try contacting bands in Japan who play a similar style of music to what your band plays through Myspace and let them know you're planning to come over to do some shows. Hopefully they'll be able to help you out. But I've heard from friends in Japan that live houses there book four to six months in advance, so you'll need to plan accordingly. If you'd like to come to Taiwan, send me a message and hopefully I'll be able to put you in touch with someone who can book a show or two here for you. I hope this helps. We live in southwest missouri, and have very quickly realized that we need to be in japan or similar, but we cannot find a booking agent to save our lives. Can you point us in a good direction? I've just arrived in Korea/Seoul for a year stint and I'll definitely be looking into jamming with folk here. I’ve just arrived in Korea/Seoul for a year stint and I’ll definitely be looking into jamming with folk here. So far though, all I really know is there is a Melt Banana gig next month in Hongdae and some massive store called the Nakwon Arcade to check out. Hopefully I’ll put some of this advice to practice soon!
