In case anyone happens to be in Amman on July 18th - there's a very interesting looking exhibition opening at the National Gallery, touching on subjects like migration/refugees, urban resilience and the political economy of the modern city. See the invitation here: http://community-en.menassat.com/profiles/blogs/refuge-urbanism-exhibition

Nice piece, Sarah. To be honest, Amman always struck me as a city where the contemporary side of life is more interesting than the historic (though the archaeology museum is brilliant).

I'd add one more place, The Blue Fig (also not a million miles away from Jebal Amman, if I remember rightly) - cool restaurant and bar that displays art by local artists and is quite involved with the arts and culture scene in Amman.
